[Flash 10 is required to watch video]
Yuppiest event yet. At a self-made quartet in a redone recording studio turned house. Note the 10 ft drop down projection screen from the ceiling. the husband is an underwater photographer, as in swimming with whales.
(oh wow, the video compression is horrendous. sorry about that, but you get the idea.)

I love SF
It’s easy to say that you love a city after a few short weeks, but I’ve been having a ridiculously good time in the Bay Area.
July 11.
For the World Cup finale, a friend and I went down to Civic Center (ie City Hall) and watched with thousands of Dutch and Spanish soccer fans. It was funny to see how the fans self-segregated themselves, and it’s always cool to be around people that are passionate about their sports. Yay for unbridled nationalism!

And later we did the customary boat cruise around the Bay. Of course, it was beautiful.

July 17.
Ella came in from Portland to visit me and a high school friend who lived in San Rafael. 7 wineries for $10?!?! COUNT ME IN! The wineries were in Sonoma (Alexander Valley): relaxing, scenic, and surprisingly…”adult.” hah.

Later that night we went out to Castro and the Mission. And it was…well…yea. haha.
SF has so many things working for it: good mass transit, modest size, tons of interesting people, and GOOD FOOD.
July 20.
And speaking of good food, we had a mini Duke reunion with JSo at an Eritrean restaurant in the Richmond. Eating your food with your hands is the best.

2. OMG, so embarrassing for that girl
3. Trevor’s a gentleman for not putting it up on FB or something like that
4. Let’s forget about it

A Googler's insights on social networking
Paul Adams is lead for User Research for Social at Google, and wow, this guy really really gets social networking. Yes, a Googler who gets social networking! There’s good stuff about how no one really thinks of their friends as “Friends,” designing for different types of relationships, influencing how people make decisions, and privacy. The slides on privacy make me think, “Paul, have you shown these slides to your Buzz colleagues? They could use your help.” Oh yeah, Slide 15 explains perfectly why I don’t like using Facebook.
(Bro, this link is mostly for you, since I bet you’re the only one reading who will get through all 216 slides!)
Naturally, the “bro” shares it.
The presentation is well worth skimming through and is spot on with its criticisms of current social networking - Twitter and Facebook. Obviously, the challenging part is to translate this into a workable product that isn’t overwhelming for users to manage/maintain and to have a respectable level of privacy. Excited for Google Me!

July 4th: highlight was having a random group of kids rocking on the pier!
